Story

When Johnny Wright arrived at Dora High School, the Bulldogs’
football program was at rock bottom. The team had won one game in
two years.
Six years later Dora is considered one of the top football programs
in Class 4A.
That’s the legacy Wright will
leave at Dora.
Wright stepped down from his post to take
the over the head coaching duties at Class 6A Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa.
He was officially accepted by the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education
on Monday.
“It was a tough decision. I love Dora,
the community, the people — it’s a great place and the
people here have been great to me and my family. They welcomed us
as part of the community,” Wright said. “I told the
kids (at Dora) about my decision this morning. I wanted to tell
them myself. We all met up there at the school and gave our good-byes.”
