Impressive Start to
Year for Bulldogs

-- Dora won its first game of 2006 as the Bulldogs cruised Tuesday
night to a 83-41 victory over Hayden.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 16-8 lead after the first quarter and
held a 35-14 advantage at the half.
Hayden kept things close until Dora closed the first half with a
17-0 run. Whit Wright sparked the run with three steals and six
points. Wright's behind-the-back pass to Brandon Yancey gave Dora
a 31-14 lead. Wright added a basket with 46 seconds left and Landon
Hayes hit a shot with 18 seconds remaining left to close the half.
Dora also outscored Hayden 28-10 in the final frame.
"It was a good win to start after Christmas," said Dora
head coach Bart Payne. "We played good team ball and passed
up good shots to get better shots."
Dora (10-6) had four players crack double digits in the victory.
Wright led the Bulldogs with 18 points, Isiah Doaty scored 15 and
Kyle Chance and Anthony Valdez added 10 points each.
The Bulldogs next game will be at Fayette on Friday.

Three Dora players scored in double figures as the Lady Bulldogs
beat Hayden handily on Tuesday night.
Kimber Holt led the way with 20 points and seven rebounds. Kayla
Smiley had 16 points and seven rebounds and Chantrese Softley had
14 points.
Kayla James had nine rebounds and six steals, Erica Jones added
nine steals and Stephanie Woods tallied five steals.
Dora had 26 steals in the game.
Dora (8-7) led 19-8 after the first quarter and 32-18 at the half.
The Lady Bulldogs led 45-25 at the half. |
