CORDOVA -- Dora's volleyball team evened its record on Tuesday
with a four-set win over the Cordova Lady Blue Devils.
Cordova kept the match close through three sets before Dora rolled
to a 25-3 victory in the fourth and final set.
Dora (5-5) won the match 25-16, 13-25, 25-23, 25-3.
Kimber Holt paced Dora with 24 kills, three aces and two blocks.
Jessica Motte had 12 assists and three aces. Kayla Twilley had 14
assists and five aces -- all in the final set -- Kiaundra Spann
added 21 digs, Kayla Smiley had four kills, Lyndsey Willingham had
four kills and two blocks and Ariel Hayes had 10 digs and a pair
of aces.
Dora will play Walker and Cordova beginning at 4 p.m. Thursday
at home.
Dora did well in tournament play over the weekend, finishing 2-2
and picking up wins over Brooks and Southside-Gadsden along the
way.
Dora lost to Muscle Shoals and Hartselle in the event. Hartselle
knocked Dora out of the tournament with a 25-13, 25-15 loss.
Holt led the team with 48 kills in the tournament, Motte had 25
assists, Spann added 67 digs, Erica Jones had eight kills and Smiley
had seven.
On the season, all of Dora's losses have come to ranked teams:
Hartselle (twice), Muscle Shoals, Curry and Grissom.
