Bulldogs Swat the Jackets by Joe Moon
The air outside was cold, but inside Curry High Gymnasium, it was red hot with Walker County basketball. Dora, coming off an overtime loss to county-rival Walker, was going to let out some frustration on the Curry Yellow Jackets.
The girls game was a fierce competition between Dora and Curry. After a dismal first quarter by the Lady Dogs, being down 19-10, they closed the first half with a 16-12 run in the second quarter to close the gap to 31-26 at the half. Then, everything went downhill after the half, the Jackets outscored the Lady Dogs 31-24 in second half, thus giving the Lady Jackets a 62-50 victory over Dora.
The boys game was a game of endurance and luck. Curry, shockingly enough, took a 23-14 lead after the first quarter. Dora, then outscored Curry in the second, 21-13, in the third, 17-8, and in the fourth 20-16. Thus, giving the Dora Bulldogs (6-3) a 72-60 win over the Yellow Jackets.
The schedule for the rest of the year will be as follows: Dec. 20th @ Hayden, Dec. 22-23 The Walker Classic @ Walker, and Dec. 27-30 The Shades Mountain Christmas tournament @ Shades Mountain High School.
