Update
On The Bulldog Band The band is going through another growth spurt this season as the band should be around 85 members strong. The Colorguard and Danceline have both had successful camps and we are getting ready to start making some noise. The percussion section will be playing on new equipment from Pearl Corporation of America. Anyone interested in making a donation to help cover those expenses can contact me in the band office at 648-8882, Also, the Marching Bulldogs have once again been invited to compete at the Southern Invitational Marching Festival in Marietta, GA. | Danceline won the Class Championship as well as had the second highest score of any band competing (even against band four times our size!). I am going to do something a little different this year; anyone that would like to help sponser a student for expenses on this trip should contact me in the band office. We have some students that do have a finiacial need this year and anyone willing to help would be greatly appreciated. | |
| Band News From a Bulldog Band Mom Just wanted to advertise the DHS Band-A-Thon here. The band will be practicing/playing/marching for 10 hours on Saturday in an effort to raise funds for the band. They have been working hard to get sponsors ($1.00 per hour or a $10.00 donation) and were asked to get 10 sponsors each. This has the potential to be a great fund raiser for them if all of the members do their part. They will be at the school Saturday, August 14 from 8:00 am until 8:00 PM and will be given 2 breaks (lunch/dinner) plus water breaks during the course of the day. They will be performing their half-time show at 7:45 PM Saturday night at the stadium. If you haven't been asked to sponsor - please use this as your invitation. Call Mr. McFall at 648-8882 and ask him to send a band member your way. Also, if you are a business owner in East Walker County, the band would like for you to be an official sponsor of them. For a $100.00 donation, your name will be listed at the concession stand and on the band trailor as a "corporate sponsor" of the DHS Marching Bulldogs. You will also be given an 8x10 picture of last years band with a note that you are a sponsor. Please call Mr. McFall in the bandroom at 648-8882 (leave a message - he will get back with you - he doesn't have a prep period this semester due to scheduling problems so it may be after evening band practice before he has a chance to call back). Also, if you can assist in getting corporate sponsors by visiting the local business, I'm sure that he would appreciate your help! Thanks a bunch and "Go Bulldogs!" |
