Dora Field Goal Kicker Injured in Auto Accident
Anthony
Valdez, the field goal and extra point kicker was badly injured
in an accident on highway 78 late Sunday evening. He had been at
Talledega working a booth to raise money for the Athletics Department
and was on his way home when the accident occurred.
Valdez' injuries don't appear to be life-threatening. He had surgery
to remove his leg on Tuesday at UAB hospital.
Valdez was involved in a one-car accident Sunday night. He attended
the UAW-Ford 500 NASCAR race at Talladega earlier in the day.
“He had gone to Talladega with
his girlfriend and her parents. She lives in the Pleasant Grove
area. On the way back home, evidently something happened in Graysville
and he ran off the road and flipped his car,” said Wright,
who coaches Valdez on both the football and baseball teams.
More information on Anthony will be posted as it is learned. Friends
and family ask that you keep him in your thoughts and prayers. |
